The first #HITsm tweet chat was held almost six years ago on Jan 10, 2011. Since that time, we have hosted approximately 280 #HITsm chats. While some of you may have participated in that very first chat (only 15 actually participated), I’m proud to say that the chats and the community have continued to grow and progress for close to six years.
#HITsm chats now attract around 100 participants each week to discuss all things healthcare technology. It has been a personal privilege to help guide the chat for more than five of those years. It’s time, however, to give #HITsm a new, bigger home that can continue to support and grow the community.
I’m happy to announce that beginning Dec. 2, John Lynn, founder and editor of the HealthcareScene.com family of websites, will take over the #HITsm chats. John and several other familiar faces will begin hosting and coordinating the #HITsm chats after we take a week off to celebrate Thanksgiving.
Why did I make this decision?
It’s simple: I think John and his team will be able to take the #HITsm chats to new places and infuse some new energy and ideas. Angela, Michelle, Erica and I had a lot of fun organizing the chats over the years, but it’s time to pass the torch and support and celebrate #HITsm as it grows under new guidance.
The Nov. 18 chat will be the last chat that will be moderated by the @healthstandards team. By no means will that chat be a funeral, but more of a celebration of things to come. And, please join with us to fully support the #HITsm community under John’s guidance.
See you on a future chat!
