Topic: Personal Health Records
Chats are held at 11 a.m, CST, every Friday.
Topic 1: What are you doing in the PHR space?
Topic 2: What are the big adoption barriers (patient or provider)?
Topic 3: What are the potential benefits (to patient or provider)?
Topic 4: Should the ONC have meaningful use incentives for patients to use PHR? What other incentives could there be?
PHRs may be the bridge between the world in which we currently are (with spotty interoperability and adoption of EHR) and the world of the activated patient and improved health outcomes.
Wearables and other Patient Generated Health Data (PGHD) can more easily go into PHR than EHR, e.g. Microsoft HealthVault, CareCoach, etc.
The ONC has published a guide to PHR and is semi-actively promoting it: https://www.healthit.gov/sites/default/files/about-phrs-for-providers-011311.pdf
